Futaba Releasing an 18 Channel radio

Posted on May 16, 2011 by aaronredbaron

Futaba has been using the 14MZ as their flagship radio for over 6 years. The 14MZ is quite a benchmark to try to top, but Futaba is setting out to do it with an all new 18 channel radio, the 18 MZ. While some may wonder why anyone would need 18 channels for a model aircraft, there are applications which will put all 18 channels to good use. It appears Futaba was intent on taking what they had developed for the 14MZ and pushing it to the next level. With the 18 MZ we see the addition of a few new features, such as Futaba’s latest 2.4 gHz technology, FASSTest, which is Futaba’s first offering with telemetry. The new radio has also been loaded up with an SD card slot, and a new screen with what should be vastly improved touch screen features. Touch screen technology has matured leaps and bounds since the 14MZ was first introduced, and the idea of a radio with a modern touch screen interface is tantalizing.
