Bill Hempel Defies Convention Flying 3D With A 50% Cub

Bill Hempel has been known around the RC flying circles for many years as one of the most talented pilots. He participated in the 2008 Tuscon aerobatic shootout with an airplane most would consider impractical for an aerobatic competition; a 50% scale clipped wing Piper Cub. The Cub Bill was flying is his own creation, and is available though his own website as an ARF(Almost Ready to Fly). click here to see Bill’s website where you can buy your own 50% Cub. With every other competitor flying a stereotypical aerobatic plane, Bill Hempel took the big Cub out there and showed everyone that with enough power and a great pilot, you can do just about anything.

Here are some pics from Joe Nall 2009 I snagged of the giant ARF’s

50% Piper Cub now that is Giant Scale RC!
