Scotty Bouck is a long time airplane and glider flier and one of a diminishing breed. He is a scratch builder. He comes up with his own unique ideas for all of his airplanes, and builds them. Most of his models are built of foam; depron, EPP, Pink foam and styrene have all been used to bring his ideas to life. Scotty is well versed in the art of cutting foam with his homemade hot wire bow, as well as making fiberglass molds. Much of his experience is from flying slope gliders. Although Scotty has earned his wings with more complicated building techniques, its his most recent work with flat Depron foam that has really started to turn some heads.

There are many things that set Scotty’s designs apart; among them are his spar system, hinge system, built up depron fuselages, landing gear systems, motor mounts, glueing concepts, and hatch latches. Scotty has designs using nothing but flat Depron ranging from outdoor and indoor 3D planes to stealthish pusher parkjets to flying wings to trainers and gliders and more. Now Scotty is taking a new leap with his construction techniques and delving into building airfoil shaped wings with nothing but the lightweight flat foam.

Scotty is always creating, and we are fortunate to be able to bring Scotty onto the Baron’s Hobbies team. Scotty will be posting occasionally with insights, and new design ideas. If there is enough interest in his ideas, Scotty is gearing up to offer some of his better refined designs as laser cut kits. Keep a close watch here for some cool new stuff from Scotty and let him know if you like what you see!
